History Of Three Rope Wrestling
Three Rope Wrestling. [3RW] is an American professional wrestling promotion based in Atlanta, Georgia. It began as a regional promotion affiliated with the Squared Circle Association, until November 2012, when a small regional Broadcasting System established the promotion. WCW became the primary competitor to Paul Heyman's small regional promotion World Championship Wrestling Federation (WCWF)
In Early 2013, 3RW improved its economic stability, largely due to the promotion of Jacob Roode to Cheif Executive Officer, the hiring of former WWE main eventers, the introduction of "3RW PRIME" and the resultant Saturday Night Wars with the WCWF, the formation of a new board of directors, and other innovative concepts. The organization went on to eclipse the WCWF in popularity throughout the south for much of the latter half of 2013. However, numerous financial and creative problems led the rival company (WCWF) to lose its momentum in the ratings against Three Rope Wrestling. World Championship Wrestling Federation announced in August of 2013, that the show would be returning to Wednesday nights beginning on Wednesday, August 13, 2013, thus ending the Saturday Night Wars. However during and after the time the shows went head-to-head, Three Rope Wrestling Cheif Executive Officer, Jacob Roode allowed inter-promotional championship matches on occasion and Throughout 2013, WCWF stars appeared on 3RW television programs, and vice versa. As part of the working agreement Jacob Roode signed, between 3RW and, WCWF, a number of WCWF wrestlers were sent to 3RW for seasoning in 2013, and vice versa, until the agreement was revoked by Paul Heyman in October 2013.
In Late 2013, Antonio Ceasro made a surprise appearance on 3RW PRIME, making his debut by attacking Sheamus, while still reigning as WCWF World Heavyweight Champion. Ceasro's friend Damien Sandow has said that Antonio refused to work with WCWF due to being quote on quote "misused" There were rumors that 3RW Cheif Executive Officer Jacob Roode wanted Ceasro to drop the WCWF World Championship belt in the trash can on television, as had been done previously with the 3RW Women's title by AJ Lee when she jumped from the 3RW to WCWF. After Paul Heyman filed a complaint, 3RW refrained from having him appear on PRIME with the belt but did acknowledge him as the champion. Eventually, a compromise was reached. Antonio Ceasro (now on the 3RW roster and the reigning WCWF World Heavyweight champion) appeared at a televised WCWF event and lost the championship in a one on one match. In November, Ceasro's friend Damien Sandow left WCWF. His absence was explained that Sandow was fired by Heyman after he was suspected as the "locker room mole" for the rival wrestling promotion, helping to lure stars to Three Rope Wrestling.
The Year Of 2014, The company had gone through various changes in its leadership and booking during the year. In October 2014 Jacob Roode would announce he would be stepping away from his on-screen role, Some stars, like Johnny Ace and others filled in his spot on television, while others like Dusty Rhodes, Jim Ross, and Vince Russo who had extensive wrestling experience, took care of the programming behind the scenes. Lex Luger came to Three Rope Wrestling (3RW) in December and began appearing on television the following month. Lex Luger won the World Heavyweight Championship in his second appearance with the company, defeating Triple H in a dream match. After overcoming the likes of Triple H, The Warrior, Randy Savage, and Hulk Hogan, for the next nine months (the longest reign of all time for this championship), Lex Luger still reigns as World Heavyweight Champion to date. Big Van Vader returned from Japan and had a brief stint in the company feuding with The Warrior, Randy Savage, and others. However, in January 2015, Big Van Vader returned to Japan and has yet to return to 3RW. Many speculate it was due to the fact Three Rope Wrestling could not sign the match everyone wanted, Big Van Vader Vs. Brock Lesnar, due to Brock Lesnar's obligations with other promotions. Brock Lesnar has also been a very elusive superstar in Three Rope Wrestling over the years, only appearing a few times, although each time he has appeared he has made a huge impact in Three Rope Wrestling.
In Late 2015, it was announced that Hulk Hogan had joined 3RW on a full-time basis where, partnered with Eric Bischoff, he would return to the ring full time. The footage of his signing and the press conference following the announcement were featured on the January episode of PRIME. Hulk Hogan then developed a rivalry with former friend Lex Luger over the World Championship. Hulk Hogan has had several matches against Lex Luger for the World Heavyweight Championship but has yet to derail the Lex Express. Lex Luger remained popular among with the audience until August 2015, where he turned his back on his friends, Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, and reformed the Four Horsemen with Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Arn Anderson, Curtis Axel. Lex Luger retained his championship in a controversial ending at "War Between The Four" with the help of his new allies it seems Lex Luger may never lose the World Heavyweight Championship. Outside of the ring, Jacob Roode would return to television in February 2015 to announce a new name for the Saturday Night program, a new inter-promotional agreement with a Japanese wrestling organization. However, the inter-promotional agreement fell through three weeks to the day it was announced. Jacob Roode came on air before a Saturday Night taping and announced the deal had fallen through and the planned main event for the next big event would have to be changed. The match was rescheduled and changed accordingly.
While Jacob Roode received much criticism for some of his mishandling during the deal, he did combine an understanding of wrestling with a willingness to make changes that were needed in order to help 3RW become more visible in the eyes of the media and advertisers. These changes including moving some television tapings to another network, and signing both main-event performers and young stars from the independent scene. Some of the creative freedoms that Roode granted some writers level talent helped to bring the company down in ratings, Once they were relieved of their duties in June 2015, Vince Russo, a former writer for the World Wrestling Entertainment, came on board to become the lead writer of 3RW. in August 2015, 3RW opted to bring in Chief Brand Officer of WWE, Stephanie McMahon. It's been no secret Three Rope Wrestling has had a working agreement with WWE since its creation. Much would change in the following weeks with Stephanie McMahon's involvement. on August 28th, it was announced that "Saturday Night Wrestling" would go on hiatus until further notice, and shortly after that announcement Jacob Roode was relieved of his duties as Cheif Executive Officer of Three Rope Wrestling. Stephaine McMahon would announce on August 30th, she was now the sole owner of Three Rope Wrestling.
